Denise Kay Leiberher Carbary, 61, formerly of Campbelltown, died February 5, 2021 in Flagstaff, Arizona after a short but fierce battle with cancer.

Born May 29, 1959 to the late Kenneth B. Leiberher and Edna Weaber Leiberher. She graduated from Palmyra High School and has lived in Virginia, Texas and Arizona. Denise was very proud of her successful professional dog grooming business "Puppy Paradise" which she created and ran for over forty years.  She continued her education and received her certificate as a skin esthetician for pets. She LOVED animals and was always surrounded by her loving paw friends.  She devoted her whole life loving and caring for her dogs, cats, ducks and bunny. She was very adventurous and enjoyed traveling and seeing new sights. She loved and was thankful for her walks through the forest with her dogs. She loved the outdoors. She was feisty and fun and a kind, supportive person.
She is survived by her husband of over 20 years Randy Carbary and her four stepsons Steven, Nathan, Silas and Michael. Also her siblings Bonnie Leiberher of Mechanicsburg, Kenneth Leiberher of Jonestown, Quentin Leiberher of Palmyra and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Gail Leiberher (please see gail-ann-leiberher.forevermissed.com).
We ask you to help honor Denise by leaving pictures and remembrances here.
Please see the Gallery/Video tab for a lovely slideshow that Randy and his friends/family created for Denise's memorial service. It truly honors her beautiful spirit. We love you, Nese.

Denise is a friend that I do not hesitate to speak of, as I continue to care for the pets of others. In our many one-on-one conversations, I remember her attention to detail; this comes as a reminder when, especially late at night, I am unsure of what to do to comfort a pet that, for some reason, doesn’t seem to be doing right, in spite of my best efforts.

Denise helped me to learn that the cause isn’t always physical.

All that Denise taught me still continues to be with me; I often reflect on the thought that she had about wanting the animals to benefit from Jehovah’s blessings too.

The love that she showed to those who knew her was extraordinary. As we daily move closer to Jehovah’s wonderful purposes, Randy, may you feel His love for you and your family, including the critters.

I have not forgotten all that this very precious person has taught me. What love she showed to her family, friends and pets. Her legacy continues today in the love she showed for our Heavenly Father, Jehovah and His creation. Yesterday, in service, I was able to share with a sister how her husband, Randy, shared with Denise the timely articles on the beautiful resurrection hope that God promises, thus encouraging this sister to share with her brother how Jehovah so tenderly cares for us. Also, in my pet sitting, what I learned from Denise remains with me. I have enjoyed sharing the her loving example with others.

I met Denise in the spring of 2004 at a service meeting. We had other things in common; that we had lived in Virginia and also loved animals. She taught me much and I will always treasure working with her in Puppy Paradise. She cared for my pets as well, and visited me here in Florida when Gail lived here. I always remember her encouragement to me; my different way of walking did not matter to her. She saw my heart first. Her love for God, her family and her pet family remains with me.

We will always remember what a dear sweet sister Denise was. Denise always with her big happy smile and even bigger heart she was always a ton of fun out on service to be with and such a loving sister to be around. We know that Jehovah will keep her in his memory and that we will see her again soon in Paradise.

Denise and I met at an Assembly in Grantville, PA. She and I became friends right away! As if we had always known each other. She made everyone feel that way. Her smile and laugh still echo in my mind. A dear sweet friend that taught me so much and always understood how I felt. I will always remember our fun times in the ministry, our walks together and working at Puppy Paradise! My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and fur babies.

Denise was a very kind, hard working woman who took incredible care of my little dog for four years. My heart breaks to know that her life was cut so short, and my heart grieves for her family. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures, but I have four years of wonderful memories. She will be deeply missed my family and I.

Oh Nisey, How you will be missed! You were such a part of my teens and twenties, you were our adopted older sister. So MANY memories. From Wardensville to Winchester to Stephens City...we went together. You taught Wendy how to drive stick-shift, what patience! I loved working summers at Puppy Paradise and our family building the float for the parade. Countless meetings and field service and picnics. I remember getting a new dress I was so proud of, and you walked into the meeting and sat down next to me in the same dress. :) My graduation trip to Texas to visit your friends was definitely memorble to say the least. So many sleepovers and dog walks in the field. Having to wash the dogs down when we got back because they rolled in the cow poop! You were my first kindred spirit - a true animal lover. They say animals and children are good judges of character and you were always a hit with both. What an impact you had on my life. Although Randy stole you away (I knew you'd be in good hands) you were the type of friend that we'd just pick up where we left off. I can never wear the color yellow without thinking of you. You were so full of life and love and sunshine. I'm so proud of you fighting as hard as you could. Now your fight is over, you're resting in peace and soon Jehovah will call. Then we can play with the big animals - the lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes. I love you and miss you so much!!!

We didn’t do a lot together, but what we did do, we did with and for Jehovah. Service, chats after meetings, chats after memorial, chatting about our love of all animals. You are a dear sister and I look forward to spending many hours with you in Jehovah’s new world. We will spend tons of time with all Jehovah’s animals. Can’t wait to see you again.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of this very dear lady, my friend and confidant, Denise. Such a gentle heart, closely guarded by a quiet, strong exterior. She was there to help if asked, but never asked for help, never said an unkind word to anyone, full of energy and ideas, and so much fun! I'll miss our hikes, I'll miss her love of swimming, even in the winter, her pets and her love for them, I'll miss her love for my boys ( dogs) and always hold close the memory of the day she went with us to the shelter to get them. I'll miss her loyalty, her smile, her sincerity, but most of all the walks we shared and the deep heartfelt talks. There is an emptiness where she once was that won't ever be filled, until we see each other again, until then, she is so missed and so loved. An awesome individual!

To my Best Friend,

Sometimes life draws those we come to know and love by chance. I met you way back in 2002 you took care of our dogs, we took long walks, hung out, cried together, laughed together, made fun of Randy and Kevin when they were not looking. I will never forget the couch stories and the fun we had together. Only regret, never being able to say good bye. Was not meant to be cause next time I see you it will be with a hug hello and no masks....
Love you so much Dear Sister....

Jacquie
Love you Randy

Favorite Childhood Memories

February 5, 2022
Denise often talked about some of her favorite childhood memories in and around the family home in the Village of Campbelltown and her “stomping grounds” up at Mt Greta.

In the Gallery, you can see a photo of the house where Denise grew up on Lawn Rd. She was proud of the fact that it had been built by her father and her uncles out of real wood- not “cardboard”- the term that she often used to describe modern, inferior building materials.

In recent years, a park with soccer fields has been built across from their former house. However, when Denise was growing up it was all corn fields. Why is that significant? A look at the photo of the nearby “Alger Family Barn” on nearby Horseshoe Pike helps us understand. Imagine Denise, as a child, watching them stop traffic each morning to let all the cows cross the road over into the corn fields. Then, in the evening, she’s watching the reverse process- they are stopping the traffic again so that all the cows can return to the barn for the night.

She was impressed that this “daily routine” was accomplished without the use of ropes, whips, or cattle prods. That they could graze freely with no need to be confined in stock yards or feeding pens. These early childhood experiences shaped her view of all animals and the level of loving care that she provided.

For instance, on our daily walks with 7 or more dogs no leashes or restraints were used- whenever possible; they were given lots of room to roam and all were trained to respond to a whistle, hand clap or verbal command. It was impressive to watch and learn.

Oh, a lesson learned from the barn? No animals under her care spent the night outside without proper shelter. Our house was nicknamed “the dog house or the barn”- which we got to share it with all our critters. Even the ducks spent a few nights inside, until I could build a proper shelter with enough heat to keep their water from freezing.

Yup- lots of fun memories!

Hi their, my name is Karron Fisher! I want to describe to you the kind of friend My spiritual sister was towards me! We met at our kingdom hall in Flagstaff  Arizona! I also rented from Denise and Brother Randy! Many times she was my confidant! She was the loyal friend the Bible describes in Proverbs 17:17"A true friend shows love at all times and is a sister who is born for distress! Denise was in deed that kind of friend! She was also that kind of friend too her husband and her animals! I cherished our friendship because of her kindness and her love for Jehovah God! She also proved to be the kind of friend that told it like it is! Proverbs  27:17" Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens his friend. "

On the move with Denise

March 16, 2021
Now that my feet are on the ground here in West Virginia, I finally have time to laugh, reflect and grieve the loss of my dear wife and friend Denise. All the positive comments, photos and memories that her family and friends have shared are truly appreciated and are assisting with my adjustment. A common thread that I see in your comments is her contagious smile, love for her critters and an adventurous spirit to enjoy the beauty of the world around us.

Our life together began in Virginia after the sad breakup of our previous marriages. Initially, our connection was spiritual because of a shared faith as Jehovah's Witnesses and our desire to live on earth in paradise under God's Kingdom. But, we "blamed" my youngest son, Michael, for bringing us together as a couple. He loved spending time with Nise when she lived on Nancy's farm (lots of critters there) and later at her house and shop on Rte. 522 (lots of fun with Pete, her coon hound). There were abundant walks out the back gate, through the meadows and trails over to Lake Frederick. Of course, I got invited to come along.

Speaking of invited to come along, Denise had her heart set on moving to Arizona; so it wasn't long after our marriage (May 2000) that we relocated to Flagstaff, AZ (September 2003). One of her well meaning friends innocently asked- "Are ALL the Animals Going With"? Denise responded- "Of course they are; the question is- is Randy going with"? You see, when Denise set her mind to do something, the rest of us had to catch up or get left behind. For those of you familiar with Hershey Park or other parks with roller coasters- the attendant would say- "Hold on and ENJOY the Ride." Life with Denise was a lot like that. Much more could be said- but, I will simply pause and reflect.
